Establishing an inclusive culture, one in which individuals feel valued,
heard, engaged, and are allowed to be their authentic selves in the
workplace, remains elusive for many libraries. In this facilitated
workshop, participants will be introduced to a developmental process borrowed from the field of Organizational Development. The “Path from Exclusive Club to Inclusive Organization” depicts the stages encountered when organizations transition from an exclusive organization to an inclusive multicultural one. Attendees will participate in small group discussions throughout the workshop, and work together to develop strategies for getting from where we are to where we want to be on the spectrum of the Path Model. By directly engaging the issues of power and privilege that face librarianship, participants will leave this discussion better equipped to move the profession forward toward a more positive, inclusive culture.Boxed Lunch will be served from 12:00 to 1:00.
